Meet Dr. Tristan Brooks

Credentials: Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.)

Double Board Certified in Family Medicine & Lifestyle Medicine

Perinatal Mental Health Certified (PMH-C through Postpartum Support International)

Pensacola native Dr. Tristan Brooks brings a diverse life experience to her patients, which shapes her philosophy. After her first career in public education, she dove into medical school at VCOM-Carolinas. She then attended the Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare Family Medicine Residency and moonlit at the corresponding psychiatric hospital. After graduation, she moved home with her husband and baby girl to be close to family.

Dr. Brooks worked in corporate Outpatient Primary Care until the birth of her son. After taking some time, she is so excited to finally bet on herself and serve the community she knows and loves. Indeed, she can’t really go anywhere without knowing someone, and that’s Pensacola for you.

What’s her “Why?”

As a D.O., Dr. Brooks received additional training in Musculoskeletal medicine but additionally finds her education was invaluable in really looking at the whole person. She believes in staying curious and asking questions, following up-to-date, evidence-based medical practices, understanding that patients need to feel heard to come up with a plan, and working together toward an outcome or diagnosis. She has been described as “annoyingly meticulous,” and smiles at the accuracy.

Her special interests include:

  • Non-pharmacological interventions for chronic disease states. (She herself used Lifestyle Medicine changes alone to lose 60 pounds over the course of two years.)
  • Breastfeeding education and support for those women who desire to breastfeed. She teaches Breastfeeding Counseling Course trainings across the state and completed the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine’s Leadership Academy.
  • Serving the significant gap in care that is the postpartum woman.

Dr. Brooks believes in being proactive much more than reactive. She believes in wellness and prevention, in being up front and honest, and in striving for authenticity.

Vision

After leaving corporate medicine, Dr. Brooks has learned to be very intentional. We all only get 24 hours in a day, we all have only 100% to give and it has to be divided in such a way that no one person can “do it all.”

She believes it’s never too late to start putting yourself first so that you can show up for your people.
